Coach Adam

Coach Adam is the Founder of Tiburon Swim Academy, formerly known simply as “Coach Adam.Fun” when he started in 2017 with a mere 3 swimmers in a rented lane. As of spring 2022, Coach Adam has 8 coaches and over 1000 requests for lessons and is in the pool every day of the week.

Super Power: Adam can get screaming kids to laugh, crying kids to play and hyperactive kids to listen and learn. Adam specializes in turning fear into fun!

Education: Master’s Degree in Business Management, Bachelor’s Degree with a focus on coaching.

Interesting Fact: He started his sports career as a young athlete but after a devastating car accident ruined the chances of becoming a Hockey player he turned to coaching.

Coaching Experience: 15 years, all different sports, starting with youth soccer.

Coach Eric

Coach Eric was one of the first coaches to be hired at Tiburon Swim Academy back in 2017! After meeting Coach Adam, he decided to give swim coaching a try.

Super Power: Coach Eric’s soft, gentle demeanor and calm reactions to his swimmers builds strong bonds of trust that are the building blocks of his coaching style.

Interesting Fact: Formerly a Basketball player he spent a lot of his youth coaching basketball.

Coaching Experience: Despite having no formal swim background, Coach Eric has learned from Coach Adam and become an incredible teacher in this field.

Coach Armond

Coach Armond has been with Tiburon Swim Academy for three years. After working with Coach Adam, Coach Armond learned to adapt his teaching style to fit with any level of swimmer. He has an eye for efficiency and gets his swimmers moving with a high level of efficiency.

Super Power: Coach Armond loves coaching and gets fulfillment out of watching his swimmers gain confidence and skill. He specializes in developing higher level swimmers and preparing them for competitive swimming. He has an eye for detail and gets his swimmers moving with a high level of efficiency. 

Interesting Fact: Coach Armond was afraid of swimming when he was a kid!

Coaching Experience: Coach Armond started coaching as a lifeguard in Boston at Brookline Community Centers about 15 years ago. Since then he has coached everything from introductory lessons up to swim team level. He has also coached basketball, football, soccer, baseball and snowboarding!

Coach Emily

Coach Emily is new to the Tiburon team and she has an extensive aquatic background.

Super Power: Emily uses the natural instincts and interests of her swimmers to create swim games. The games always incorporate the skills that swimmer needs to work on but in a fun and interesting way for them.

Interesting Fact: As a child she always loved to swim but only in shallow water; her persistent irrational fear of deep water held her back from trying out for swim teams during her school years. However, determined to conquer her fear she took an intense Lifeguard certification course at the end of high school and passed.

Levels taught: Emily teaches all ages of swimmers from infant to competitive levels. She aims to prove to each child that swimming is not as scary as they think it is, and as long as they try even a little, they will make progress.

Coaching Experience: She started as just a lifeguard and soon became an instructor, moving up onto a swim team and eventually a pool director at a summer camp.

Coach Val

Coach Val coached swimming AND synchronized swimming for two years in Venezuela. This is her first job as a coach in the US! Swimming has been an important part of her life and she likes to share her experience with other people in a fun way.

Super Power: Coach Val is passionate about helping swimmers conquer their fears.

Fun Fact: When she was in swimming lessons as a young girl, she spent most of her time dancing underwater!

Coach Joshua

Coach Joshua’s goal is to make swimming fun and approachable for all age groups. He takes pride in the accomplishments of my students however big or small as they progress and become better swimmers. 

Swim Background: Coach Joshua started taking swim lessons as a baby and joined his first swim team at six years old! He continued swimming on his town swim team, his high school swim team and on a USA swim team.

Interesting Fact: Swimming isn’t Coach Joshua’s only sport! When he is not in the water, he loves to explore and get lost on his bike with the goal of finding new places and meeting new people.

Coaching Experience: Coach Joshua started with helping to coach for his town’s recreational swim team at age 14. Then at 16, he started volunteering with Special Olympics Massachusetts teaching lessons and coaching athletes in Milford, MA. At 18, he started working full time in aquatics teaching, lifeguarding and coaching.

Coach Yasmin

Coach Yasmin’s goal is to help kids become stronger swimmers and more fearless in the water while having fun!

Swim Background

Coach Yasmin took swimming lessons at a young age, and found out quickly that she loved it, which inspired her to go onto a swim team at 8 and she hasn’t stopped swimming one way or another since.

Interesting Fact

Yasmin rides and takes care of horses and other animals in her off time in Mansfield.

Aquatic Experience

Coach Yasmin has been assisting in swim lessons and lifeguarding since she was a high school student at Newton North!

Coach Nick

Coach Nick’s goal is to help students feel comfortable in the water and achieve their swimming goals in the most fun way possible.

Swim background

Nick has always enjoyed being in the water was on a competitive swim team in his youth as well as on his high school team.

Interesting fact

Coach Nick was a four sport varsity athlete for cross country, swim, and indoor / outdoor track! Now, coach nick enjoys weightlifting too.

Coach Haylee

Coach Haylee’s main goal is to teach kids the importance of water safety, so they are able get over their fears of the water and be able to enjoy it!

Coaching Style

Coach Haylee likes to make the kids as comfortable as possible while also pushing them to do their best in order to become safe and a good swimmer.

Super Power

Coach Haylee excels at finding the right approach for each individual student!

Fun Fact

Coach Haylee likes to play volleyball when she’s not in the pool.

Coach Gabby

Coach Gabby has done a lot of work and community service helping kids, parents, and families. She used to be a cheerleading coach but this is her first time coaching swim and she says it has been amazing so far!

Coaching Style

Coach Gabby remembers how much fun she had learning how to swim as a kid and strives to create fun memorable experiences for her students as well while always prioritizing water safety!

Super Power

One of her strengths while coaching is giving kids more confidence in their swims and pushing them to keep going and not give up when their anxiety or fears start to kick in.

Favorite Part of the Job

Watching all different types of kids improve and get over their fears!

Fun Fact

When she’s not in the pool, Coach Gabby is probably doing art! She loves to sculpt, paint, go thrifting, sing and dance!

Coach Jonathan

Coach Jonathan believes swimming should be fun but also wants students to understand how important it is to know how to swim safely.

Coaching Strengths

Coach Jonathan can lighten any situation though jokes or songs. What do dentists and swim coaches have in common? They both use drills!

Swimming Experience

Coach Jonathan swam in a summer league from age 7 - 14!

Super Power

Besides his dad jokes? His patience!

Coach Chris

Coach Chris has played baseball, basketball, done martial arts but swimming has always been his favorite activity! He wants everyone to be able to have fun in the water and know how to do so safely.

Coaching Style

Part Mr. Miyagi, part Ted Lasso.
