Coach Shi
Coaching Experience: Coach Shi assisted in coaching basketball and track during her middle and high school years, gaining valuable leadership and team-building experience. Additionally, she worked as a daycare teacher for two years, where she developed strong skills in child care and communication.
Coaching Style: Coach Shi believes that learning to be safe in the water should be both effective and enjoyable. Her approach focuses on creating a fun, supportive environment where swimmers feel encouraged and confident. As someone who understands anxiety, she’s able to connect with children on their level—recognizing their fears and using positive distraction and empathy to guide them through challenges. Her goal is to help each swimmer build trust, develop strong skills, and enjoy their time in the water.
Outside Interests: When Coach Shi is not at the pool, she can be found outside spending time with her son or cozied up indoors with a good book. She also love singing — even if she’s not winning any awards, it’s something that brings her a lot of joy!
