Tiburon Swim Club Presents…
August Stroke Clinics
with USA Swim Team Coaches Julie and Joshua!
Swimmers must be able to swim 25 yards freestyle and 25 yards backstroke to participate. All sessions will be limited to five swimmers in the 10 and under age groups and five swimmers in the 11 and older age group.
All sessions will be held at the Waltham Boys & Girls Club located at 20 Exchange St., Waltham, MA, 02451.
Stroke clinics will be offered:
August 4 - August 7
August 11 - August 14
August 17 - August 21
August 25 - August 28
Each day will have three time slots available:
Session 1: 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM (60 Minutes)
Session 2: 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM (60 Minutes)
Session 3: 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM (90 Minutes)
BUTTERFLY
Body Position & Undulation
Teaching proper core development and energy-efficient swimming
Timing & Rhythm
Emphasizing two-beat kick timing and smooth transitions to limit drag
Arm Recovery & Entry
Drills focused on relaxed arm recovery and precise hand entry to maintain flow
Breathing Technique
Training breath control and timing to avoid disrupting stroke tempo.
Freestyle
Body Position & Balance
Teaching horizontal alignment and proper head position to reduce resistance
Arm Technique
Focusing on high-elbow catch, clean extension and powerful underwater pull
Breathing Patterns
Training Rhythm based, race specific breathing to build consistency and efficiency
Kick Development
Building a consistent flutter kick through core-driven drills and kick sets.
Starts, Turns & Finishes
Emphasizing explosive starts, tight flip turns, and fast finishes to gain competitive edges.
BACKSTROKE
Body Alignment & Rotation
Ensuring a straight-line body position with proper shoulder rotation.
Kick Efficiency
Building a strong, consistent flutter kick for propulsion and balance.
Arm Mechanics
Focusing on high-elbow recovery, clean hand entry, and deep catch for optimal pull.
Underwater Kicking
Developing strong dolphin kicks and streamlining off the starts and turns.
Stroke Tempo
Training for race-pace consistency with a focus on increasing stroke rate.
BREASTSTROKE
Timing & Stroke Flow
Training the correct pull-kick-glide timing to create a smooth continuous stroke.
Arm Recovery & Pull Technique
Improving efficiency with drills that focus on short, quick pulls and minimize drag.
Kick Mechanics
Building strong and legal kicks with focus on flexibility and power from the hips.
Streamline & Underwater Pullouts
Developing strong push-offs and effective pullout sequences for competitive transitions.
Tempo & Endurance
Building the ability to hold stroke technique and timing through race-pace sets.
